⇒ Pakistan Air Force in War

Under great officers and authorities Pakistan Air force had fought Indo-Pak war in 1965. After the partition in 1947, Indian and Pak forces came in closure to each other at the time of war. The war took place at the course of September. Both aerial forces conducted defensive and offensive operations over each other. The war caused both the nations to conduct thousands of sorties in a single month. Pakistan With a great success claimed 104 enemy aircrafts with the loss of 19.

Later in the war, on 6th of September, Indian army claimed another attack and crossed the border and entered Lahore. Pakistan Air Force with great bravery and enthusiasm responded to Indian Airfields at Pathankot. The attack on Pathankot was a success but had to cost the death of great officer Sarfarz Rafiqui. He was awarded after death Sitara-e-Jurat. Another great fighter, Aftab Alam destroyed two aircrafts and it was the first missile launch from Pakistan Air Force.

Wagah boarder War: The war at the Wagah border was supported by the formation of F-16 which destroyed tanks, armored and vehicles.

Many heroes fought the war till the end and caused them their life. Only Cecil Choudhry returned to Sargodha to announce the role of the heroes who have fought till their deaths.

These heroes bought a unique set of skills and courage and gave much to Pak Air Force. In the remembering to their sacrifice to the country, the day of 6th September is celebrated with great zeal as Defense Day.

⇒ Creation & History of PAF:

Hence Air force plays a secondary role in assuring and supporting the security of Pakistan . First of all PAF started in 1993 due to British Government with first Air Force station near Dring Road. As a result of that station PAF Base Faisal came into existence. In 1934, the Royal Indian Air Force (RIAF) was drawn-out to the north for further operations in NWFP. The RIAF contributed to defeat the Japanese in World War II.

After years of ruling finally in 1947, the British divided the sub-continent in two sovereign states, India and Pakistan. After dividing the state British left the Sub-continent. At the time of independence in the same year, Pakistan Air Force came into being. As a new beginning, there we military seats which were left to filled.

However, at the time when Pakistan Air Force was established it had following equipment:

  • 2,332 personnel
  • 24 tempest fighter bombs
  • 16 Hawker Typhoon
  • 2 H.P.57 Halifax bombers, 12 North – American trainers
  • 10 Tiger Moth Biplanes

It had got 8 C-47 Cargo planes which were used to supply food and needs to the soldiers which were fighting the Kashmir war against Indian Forces. Pakistan Air Force started with 7 airbases all over the provinces.

First of all, flying these aircraft’s was far from the ideal with limited trainers to fly in the deserts and mountains. Frequent injuries did not make the situations better or worse. But this situation only remained till the first year. After one year on PAF, it was attained with better aircrafts which included Hawker Sea Fury fighter bomb and Bristol Fighter.  These two new aircrafts proved as a good addition and much needed equipment to PAF. By 1950, Pakistan had 93 Hawkers Sea Fury and almost 70 Bristol Fighters.

As Pakistan alone stood against the world forces and learnt from own mistakes, it entered the era of Jet planes. It learnt to build F-94Cs, F86s, and F84s. Addition of Jet planes was an unremarkable achievement of PAF. By 1957, 36 years old, an Air Marshal, Asghar Khan became PAF’s first air force commander
